Telangkhedi Village

Watercolour on handmade paper

Again one of those occassions where you (or rather I) have to begin from scratch. When I feel that I have absolutely no skill or familiarity with watercolour. This happens to me quite often, when I feel like all my previous watercolours were painted by someone else. I need a sureshot solution that works everytime I get into this slump. Terry Miura , an artist I greatly admire has written a very nice and helpful post on his blog. Click here to see the post.
This painting was done from a sketch I made of the Telangkhedi area in my hometown Nagpur. All comments and suggestions are most welcome.

Nice and fresh. It carries your signature style. The cattle add so much of life to the composition. But the most remarkable thing about this painting is how much you have achieved with the barest amount of detail.

And talking of starting from scratch, we all do that, don't we ? All it takes is a couple of attempts before you realise you are firing away on all cylinders :)

Dont worry Vinayak. Thats a common feeling among all painters. Anyways the painting is very good. Very simple and yet effective.

Any reasons why the 5th house from left has such a strong shadow compared to other houses?

Even for me watercolor paintings is a challenge! I am really scared to try my hand in that...But you have done a great job! Keep it up! Nice subject and composition..

Hi Vinayak
Great to see your post on two counts. One of course is the clean and fresh painting. The other is the booster shot a painter needs...when that feeling comes that we do not know the medium...and the earlier paintuings were done by someone else!!! I had a similar feeling yesterday...and then tried a simple, no nonsense painting...a definite morale booster!
