Arjun

Arjun, Charcoal on Paper, (12" x 11")

I did this charcoal sketch of a friend's son from one of his photographs. This is my first serious sketch in charcoal and I realised that its a mistake to expect charcoal to behave like pencil. Its just not possible to erase it once it gets too dark. Anyways, Arjun's dad loved it.

I hope to do more charcoals in future. All critques and suggestions are most welcome.

This is lovely. There is something about the eyes...I think this is how you would have looked when you were a kid. :)

Thank you Lampros. I have to practise charcoal a lot. Thanks Prabal, but I think this kid is a lot more cute.

Hi Vinayak,
You're right - charcoal is in a league of its own, as far as handling it. Keep up with it; I find it to be quite liberating and loosening [if that makes sense].

Well, it does make sense. I think I will continue with it for some time. Thanks.
