Eleanor Dashwood

Eleanor Dashwood, Oil on primed paper (11" x 14")

I love most of the movies based on Jane Austen's novels. "Sense and Sensibility" is my favourite. Emma Thompson was very impressive with the way she played Eleanor Dashwood, my favourite character on film.
I did this painting more than an year ago. I hope I could do justice here.
All comments and critiques are most welcome.

Vinayak,
I have never read Jane Austin, neither I have seen any movies based on her novel. But the lady in this painting feels as if she would belong to such a book. This is very very lovely.

Beautiful work Vinayak. You've captured her grace and beauty so well here. And I always thought Eleanor had this inner strength that I think shines in this painting. Well done!

Thank you Prabal. I think its the costume that puts her back into the Victorian era.
Thank you Carol. I want to do more portraits of the characters from this film.
Thanks Crystal. I also want to make a portrait of Hugh Grant, as Edward Ferrars, that contrasts and still complements Elinor's strength with his shy eyes and pleasant demeanor. I am sure that wont be easy!

I love this. I also enjoy Emma in this movie. The scene where she starts crying (out of happiness) is amazing. Good choice of subject matter & beautiful portrait!
